Please Help Me Recover After Losing My Beloved Cat to Medical Emergency
Hi, my name is Rachel, and I recently went through one of the hardest experiences of my life. My 2.5 year old cat - whom I’ve had since he was a month old, I would do absolutely anything and everything for - sadly had to be surrendered due to a sudden and severe medical emergency. He developed a bowel obstruction that required an emergency surgery to save his life. His first surgery was an endoscopic removal which was unsuccessful. I have spent a lot of my savings trying to help him. Despite all efforts, he needed yet another surgery, which could have cost up to $9,000, on top of the first surgery, and previous medical fees for his examination, x-rays and overnight stays— as much as I wanted to keep fighting for him, I simply couldn’t afford it. Making the decision to surrender him was absolutely heartbreaking and I don’t know if I will ever recover from this incident. I didn’t give up on him lightly—he meant the world to me. But as a student with limited resources, I had no choice. I’m continuing this GoFundMe not to undo what happened, but to help relieve the overwhelming financial burden this has left me with. Every little bit would mean so much, not just in helping me get back on my feet, but also in honouring the love I had for my sweet boy. I’ll miss having my little partner to cuddle with every morning and night.
