Teri is an amazing, beautiful woman and an extraordinary best friend. She has dedicated her adult life to supporting the staff and students in Shawnee Mission School District. She is the first smile and hello you receive when you walk in the doors of Tomahawk Elementary School and the last warm smile and goodbye when you leave. She is a favorite among students and staff, always going above and beyond to make every student feel like they are special, beautifully unique, and their voices are heard.
She was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer. Unfortunately, it was already advanced and has spread to her bones, causing extreme pain. She completed radiation therapy, but due to how fragile her bones are, her arm and femur were fractured during treatment. She now has to endure surgery to repair these before she can begin chemotherapy. She has been in the hospital for several weeks and will continue to be until surgery is complete and she is stable enough to start chemotherapy. When she is able to go home, she will need assistance and special accommodations in her home. Not only is she terrified thinking about how she will make it through this, she is constantly worried about how she will pay her medical bills and keep up with expenses at her home.
She is a truly amazing and giving person. She has touched so many students' lives. The support of friends, family, and the community will have such a profound impact on her life, allowing her to focus on treatment and recovery.
All money donated will go directly toward covering medical and living expenses. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser.
