David’s Cancer Treatment Fund
Hi, my name is Ana and I’m writing on behalf of my husband Manuel David Falcon. We would like to thank our friends, family and community for the number of prayers and blessings we have received. He’s been an amazing husband, father and grandfather working hard at Medina Electric Coop. for 38 years. On February 5, 2015 he was diagnosed with Carcinoid Cancer. This type of cancer forms neuroendocrine tumors which are resistant to the traditional chemo and radiation therapy. He’s been battling Carcinoid Cancer for 2 1/2 of years getting treatment through M.D. Anderson and Texas Oncology and has never stopped working. He’s never let this CANCER stop him.
My father has endured a monthly shot of Sandostatin as his treatment. However, a few months ago he started to feel very sick and after several tests and scans, we recently found out that the treatment of a shot is no longer enough to help save his life. In addition this past week we also found out that a tumor is pushing on the outside of his esophagus which is making it difficult to eat and breathe. His local GI doctor had to put in an emergency feeding tube until we are able to start treatment. The oncologist from MD Anderson only recommended one option for further treatment. This new treatment is called Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT). PRRT is not FDA approved therefore, the insurance will not cover it. This life saving treatment is $9,750 for each treatment and the first treatment payment is due September 1st.
We are hoping this treatment will help save my father’s life. My father’s never been one to ask for help or handouts but Friends we need your help to raise money for his treatment.
