Training For Olympic Hopeful

My name is Haley Holcomb-Jones and my son is Jonathan Jones..he recently graduated from the University of Buffalo where he became the 1st NCAA National Champion in the history of the University.  He was a Shot Putter for the Track & Field team under the coaching of James Garnham.   He is a 6 time All-American...6 time MAC Conference winner (3 years indoor/outdoor).  My son holds the record for UB as well as the MAC Conference.  He also was dedicated to his studies and his last semester earned a 3.778 GPA.



He competed at the USA Championship recently trying to qualify to make the USA Team to go to the World Championship, having to place 4th to qualify he came in 5th only behind the best Pro's in the Country and World, he is the alternate though.

He has made the USA Track & Field Team and is competing in the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada on the 21st of July.  Then he will be going to San Jose, Costa Rica with the team to compete at the NACAC Senior Area Championship in the beginning of August.

Jon has been competing on a very bad leg all year and has not had to ability to allow it to heal since he decided to compete anyways...After these last two competitions with the USA Team he will need to take time to rehab/treat and heal his leg.  He has about a year to train to qualify for the 2016 Olympics.  Jon has the dedication...drive...determination and heart to make this dream come true...not only for himself, but for his Coach, James Garnham...his family...his friends...and his home town, Portville, NY.  We are only looking for financial support to help him be able to train full-time in order to give him the best chance of making this dream come true for himself, as well as all his supporters.  Expenses like...coaching/training, rent, utilities, car payments, food, gas for his car and health insurance.  There is a benefit that is being held in his honor to raise funds for him as well...but we need to plan on over a year's worth of expenses.  There may be traveling involved to compete but we aren't sure of that yet.  Any funds that are not used at the end of this journey will be donated to the Portville Youth Group.  Thank you for reading this and hopefully I can update next year that Jonathan made the USA Olympic Team...

As a single parent Jon and I have struggled to get him through college.  He did have scholarship money to help but it wasn't a full ride...he has several student loans to pay back and are in deferrment at this point..I have parent/students loans as well.  Education as many know is  very expensive.  I do everything I can do to help, but I just don't have the funds to support him through this next year.  We really do appreciate all the support and love he has gotten from so many..He has worked so hard to get to this point and is determined, as well as myself, to complete this very successful journey in making the USA Olympic Team...thank you for your consideration.
