Help Connor fund his Top Surgery

Hello my name is Connor, I have been out as a transgender man for 4 years and have been on hormone replacement therapy for almost 3 years!

I was originally fundraising to afford to get private top surgery as despite having been on the NHS gender clinic waitlist fir almost 4 years, was still yet to have an appointment to even discuss my gender identity. As such I had started transitioning privately, being able to start hormones with the support of so many people!

Recently I was invited to move from the central London gender clinic (Tavistock and Portman) to a new local NHS clinic based in Brighton called the Sussex Gender Service. They have been much faster than the Tavistock clinic and are now placing me on the year long waitlist to have my top surgery in Brighton!

Top surgery, also called a double mastectomy, is the surgery that removes breast tissue and creates a flatter chested look for transgender men. It is a necessary procedure for many transgender men to treat their gender incongruence and gender dysphoria and can be life saving for so many people. Unfortunately due to long waitlists many are not able to afford this surgery and I am extremely fortunate and privileged to be a patient of the NHS Sussex Gender Service who have been able to speed things up for me. Services like SGS are not available countrywide and many people are still reliant on the Tavistock Clinic for support that they are often unable to provide.

I am extremely excited for my surgery, while also very nervous! Due to this new development the goal for this fundraiser has changed. I am now fundraising (as well as saving my own income alongside) to afford everything that comes with surgery. This includes:

My goal for this fundraiser is to £500. I will also be working to save a further £2000 of my own income alongside this to ensure that I am able to continue paying rent and surviving despite the time I will need to take away from my full time employment.

Thanks to you the £500 goal is already closer than I could imagine and I have been keeping those donations safe ready to use when needed alongside my own little savings! Overall to reach the £2500 goal I have set for myself, I only have £2100 to go and a lot of that is thanks to you!
