Hi Everyone, I want to share a story with you that I hope will inspire, awaken, and remind you that there is a lot of good in this world. Lenox, a 15 year veteran of the Easton Police Department , was in need of a kidney donor. When his coworkers heard.... many signed up to be tested as possible donors. Jill Garvey, a secretary for Easton Police Dept, was a perfect match. Never hesitating... even for a moment. She said "it was Lenox, he would give you the shirt off his back". After hearing Lenox's life story ( link here) about a 6 year old boy living on the street, eating out of a dumpster in a third world country to being adopted and moving to the US at age 9.... I to was moved to do something.
As you can imagine Lenox's transition to the US and family life was not without incident. At age 13 he had a run in with a police officer that would change the trajectory of his life. He was so moved by how the police officer handled the situation. In that moment he knew he could grow up to help others in the same way. Aside from the brave, selfless work he does everyday as a police officer, he continues to be a mentor to many children in our community.
Then, I quickly realized Jill's courage and selflessness. Donating her kidney to Lenox wasn't just benifiting Lenox and his family but ALL the people he comes into contact with on a daily basis. I would like to honor Jill and Lenox by raising enough money to send Jill on her dream vacation to Australia. The trip we have mapped out for her will cost $7500. - anything raised over that will be split between Talbot Mentors and The National Kidney Foundation in their names.
We are looking for any and all donations.... Keep in mind it will only takes 100 people to donate $75 or 150 people to donate $50. How much can we raise in 48 hours?!?! Please keep Jill and Lenox in your prayers on March 18 as her incredibly generous donation will be received with grace, gratitude and honor. There is one catch .....WE ARE KEEPING THIS A SECRET FROM JILL....
When she comes out of surgery we want to be able to give her the trip of a lifetime for her gift of a life time! Thanks for your generous donation!!!!!
