Hi my name is Paula and I am not very eloquent with my words but I would like to share my story with you.
I was diagnosed with stage three invasive breast cancer and I have had four major surgeries (bilateral mastectomy, dissectional lympnode, total hysterectomy), six months of aggressive chemo, 25 sessions of radiation and if that's not enough several arduous surgeries still to come for reconstruction. I take in everyday with a smile and every surgery as a step towards getting better.
Unfortunately after being off work for the last two years I find myself humbly asking for help. Getting sick is expensive and a lot my treatments are not covered by my insurance. Thankfully some of it is.
This week I will have my first surgery for reconstruction. I am told I will have 5 to 7 more surgeries and it will take another year and a half. Although I am so full of gratitude that my surgeries are covered I need to pay for the final steps of reconstruction which is tattooing my breast with 3D nipples. Apparently this is not covered and you have to find your own person to do it. I have found the guy to do it and now I just need to find a way to pay for everything.
If you find it in your heart to support me on my journey the money will be used to pay for all the treatments not covered and the final steps of reconstruction. I would like to go to Maryland and have Vinnie Myers make me look normal again.
I cannot explain how cancer has changed my life on so many levels. The pain and sickness I have endured has taught me how to be strong and face the challenges head on. But my disfigurement makes me feel less than whole.
My gratitude for your support is endless.
