Urgent Home Repairs
I'm an artist and sometimes writer, who makes comics, fantasy art, does commission work , and draws portraits for a local university. For many years I took care of my mom and in 2016 she passed, leaving me this home in her will, where I live and work. I had trouble emotionally dealing with things for a while... then money was tight and there always seemed more urgent things to spend what I earned on, than the probate fees... anyway - - the place 
is still in my mom's name and the probate process, once started takes 4 months... and I don't think this roof
has four months... several other things have fallen apart too - - it's like the place was set to begin falling apart as soon as my mom no longer needed it - - like the Fall of the House of Usher or something... but this place is all I have.
My work income is very erratic; the feast or famine of freelance life. I've actually been doing better than usual lately, thanks to some generous and appreciative clients, but it's just not enough, or fast enough, and along with a water damaged roof, I've had car trouble and other expenses keeping me from saving up what I need - - bad timing, I suppose.
I really hate to ask and this whole thing Go Fund Me thing is very uncomfortable for me, but I just need help getting on my feet, with a roof securely overhead. The roof estimates I've heard start at 4,000 and go up from there. My hope is to do it right, replace the warped decking (the plywood under the shingles)... any of the beams/rafters that have rotted... and replace the shingles with a metal roof, so I won't have to deal with this kind of problem again... then maybe I can make progress without worrying about my home falling apart.
