Eleven weeks early, micro preemie Quincy joined the Maslar family. Weighing in at a mere 2lbs 15oz, he has a lot of growing to do and will need a team of neonatal specialists to do it. Currently, his vitals are strong, and his will unwavering. Though the NICU nurses caution that there will be good and bad days ahead, days of progress and days of difficult decisions.
The Maslar family has handled these unexpected challenges with love and grace, taking each day as it comes. Leading up to the surprise early birth Mom Rebecca did all she could to carry Quincy to term, including weeks of hospitalization, bed rest, and many tests. Dad Nick kept things at home running smoothly and cared for his Big Sister Adalynn has been desperate to take Preemie Quincy out of his incubator and "hold 'em and kiss 'em".
Among the many hurdles the Maslar family is facing is the pile of medical bills mounting on the kitchen counter. Insurance has already denied some claims. So while Mom Rebecca peers through the incubator window at her tiny son, she is forced to worry about how much each wire or test is costing.
Like any parents, Nick and Becca will do whatever it takes to give their tiny baby the best chance for a quality life.
