Magdaline was one of our first friends in Kenya. Of all the young people we met around the world, we've felt most compelled that she will raise up her community if given education. Can you help make schooling possible for Magdaline? Any amount can help!
She has a heartbreaking story that is all too common in rural Africa. She was 17 when we met her but in the 8th grade because she comes from South Sudan where civil war has torn her country apart, interrupting her schooling. She's remarkable in her faith, her work ethic, and her dreams.
In Kenya every 8th grader takes a National exam that determines IF they can proceed to high school. Before the Exam results were released, we learned that Magdaline will have to go back to South Sudan since an aunt who payed for elementary school cannot pay the high cost of high school (In Kenya, all high schools are boarding schools). Magdaline would face dire circumstances in war-torn South Sudan, and her education would be over.
Last week while we were feeling heartbreak over her situation, the Exam results were released. She did WELL!!! She has an invitation to attend a high school in Kenya, but only IF she can pay the school fees.
For a year of boarding & tuition, it costs $1900 (U.S.). We are passionately telling her story to raise that amount in the next 5 days, so that she could enroll for school that starts in 3 weeks. Magdaline was such an inspiration to us. We believe she has the tenacity to defy circumstances. We believe God has significant plans for her life. She has the gift of leadership, and deep passion to better the lives of her people. Will you join us in helping cover the cost of her school fees so that she can enroll?
