Hi friends,
On January 4, 2022, during a trip to California, our beloved Sarah Wise received word that a major electrical fire occurred directly below her cherished apartment in Park Slope.
From 3,000 miles away, Sarah watched on her phone as firefighters circled the building and smoke billowed from her windows.
Gratefully, no one was hurt, but her apartment remains uninhabitable.
Unfortunately, Sarah did not have a renters’ insurance policy in place at the time of the fire. This has rendered her unable to recoup the mounting expenses of being displaced (now for over 6 weeks and counting). In addition to this, Sarah lacks what resources a renters’ insurance policy would have provided to cover an unexpected move due to fire. The need for a move is appearing increasingly inevitable as her landlord continues to break promised timelines to repair missing segments of her floor and wall, replace her broken front door, etc.
Anything you can contribute to help Sarah cover the costs of temporary housing, storage, replacement of lost items, legal assistance and moving fees will help and is tremendously appreciated.
Love,
Cara & Clem
