Rileys story !

This is my 11 year old grandson Riley and since September 16 he has been seriously sick , this fundraiser is to help my daughter and son in law with the medical bills .
In September Riley had dental work done over the next 3 weeks my daughter noticed Riley wasn't himself , he was losing weight , not eating , no enthusiasm , no energy and constantly cold and sweaty with a temperature , my daughter took him to the doctors for 3 weeks and kept getting sent home for strep but he was getting worse , then one morning Rileys hands started turning purple and my daughter took him back from there the doctors knew immediately what was wrong , Riley had Endocarditis and was immediately admitted to hospital , Endocarditis is a rare bacterial infection that attacks the heart and then the heart shoots the bacteria through the body attacking where it lands , Riley went through 4 days straight of having tests and blood being draw every 4 hours from all over his body , Endicarditis is typically treated with a six week course of antibiotics through a picc line going straight to his heart but as the infection had been in his body for at least 3/4 weeks before it was found it it had more time to attack his body and do more damage , Riley spent 3 weeks in hospital he couldn't really walk , his hands were infected and purple and painful , the infection was behind his eyes making his eyes swell .
The doctor let us know that the infection had damaged his aortic valve and was boroughing a hole in his heart towards his spine and that he was looking at heart surgery after Christmas , on thanksgiving Riley was aloud to go home till at least christmas we thought and as he had the picc line my daughter was able to continue giving him his meds at home , but 4 days later Riley went back to hospital for a check up and the doctors told them that he needed to be admitted to PICU as they saw something on his heart and wanted to hook him up to a drip at that moment of hearing this news Riley collapsed in his mums arms .
While still in the middle of being admitted to the hospital again the doctor came back a few hours later letting us know an ambulance was on its way to transport Riley to Seattle children's hospital  for open heart surgery !

At midnight my daughter and Riley arrived at CICU at Seattle children's hospital and was told Riley would be having surgery early in the morning .
5 hours later my daughter had 10 mins to pick what type of valve she wanted for Riley , two of the choices were with future heart surgeries and one choice was mecannical which didn't need further surgeries but Riley would be at risk for blood clots and bruises from tiny bangs , in the end the doctor choose and he will get future heart surgeries .
After surgery Riley was still being treated for endocarditis he went through lots of scares with his kidneys , lungs , he kept getting temperatures which indicated something else was happening but the docs couldn't figure it out at first , Riley was then put under and had a 3 hour MRI head to toe , it was then they found aneurysms in his brain with one of them looking like it ruptured , after almost 4 weeks in Seattle children's Riley was aloud to go home xmas eve giving my daughter 1 day to put xmas day together .
Over the next few weeks Rileys heart started to function properly , the purple has gone and his eyes are still swollen but slowly getting back to normal , on his birthday January 24th this year 2017 he got his PICC line finally taken out and is now off antibiotics .
We are now dealing with the aneurysms in his brain and Riley was just told he will go back to hospital mid March to have one of the aneurysms coiled , while the doc is in his brain he will look at the second potential aneurysm if confirmed that will be another procedure another time .
My grandson is a very shy kid and through all this has been the strongest and bravest kid I know but has become very withdrawn and sensitive he is suffering from high anxiety and is still losing his hair , he doesn't really sleep , he still can't sleep on his left side or do much with his left or he gets extremely dizzy .
A lot of my friends have asked how they can help or that they would like to help so that's why I did This fundraiser , to help my family out with the medical bills , they were under the assumption that they were covered by insurance but were told after there insurance doesn't cover home infusions so as of now there total bill is around
$10, 000 .

Thank you in advance from my family to yours ❤❤❤❤
