Casey’s Medical Expenses

Donation protected

If you’re reading this it’s because you know Casey, and if you don’t… She’s someone’s friend, she’s someone’s family and most importantly she’s someone’s mommy. She’s just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Here’s an update of her diagnosis below

“Right now, it hasn’t spread to my lymph nodes (they’re estimating stage 1 ) and my prognosis is good given that most breast cancers in people my age is very aggressive. I will know more about treatment in the next week, but with the type of cancer I have, it’s looking like a mastectomy and chemo.”

With everything Casey will be going through, while being a mom, while working, while keeping it all together.. financial burden should be the last thing on her mind. If you can and if you feel led, please donate to help Casey curb this financial burden so she can focus on what’s most important, beating this thing and being a mom!

*This goal will be a rolling goal as we hit the first milestone in this journey we will up the goal to continue our support of Casey. All proceeds go to Casey directly.*

Update-Quick-ish update on my treatment plan…

1. I start chemo on July 28th. 6 rounds - I go in for a LONG all day session once every 3 weeks for 18 weeks.

2. After those 18 weeks, I’ll get 6 weeks to recover before a double mastectomy. Which has about a 6 week recovery time.

3. Surgery will help them figure out if my treatment is working or not. We may adjust post surgery chemo depending on what they see in my post op pathology.

3. After surgery (if path looks good), I’ll start a lighter, targeted chemotherapy that will continue until July of next year. Altogether, I’ve got a year worth of chemo to complete. Luckily this period of chemo will be easier on my body.

‼️This treatment plan assumes I’m still in Stage 1 of this cancer, to give you some context on the aggressiveness of the type I have. So, friendly reminder: do self breast exams.‼️

What’s going on between now and then? Oh lots of stuff…

1. They saw some areas of concern in my right breast on my MRI. Getting a second opinion on that, then potentially biopsying those areas.

2. PET Scan to see if it’s spread. My cancer is aggressive, so we are checking to make sure it’s still localized ().

3. Port Install because a year worth of chemo means LOTS of IVs, and this will make it more comfortable.

4. Ultrasound of my heart to get a baseline of what it looks like now, since the Herceptin (one of my 4 chemo drugs) can cause some heart problems.

5. Consult with an IVF doctor because chemo makes you infertile.
