Toni Marie Albrecht, born March 17th…to some, considered the luckiest day of the year.
3 weeks before her 40th birthday, her luck changed… she received a diagnosis of Stage 1 Ductal Carcinoma (IDC). Doctors found 3 masses in her breasts, one in the left, two in the right.
A frightening diagnosis in our family, because we have been so seriously affected by this disease.
Toni decided to take the necessary steps to eraticate chance and underwent a full double mastectomy in April. Node biopsies resulted in further bad news, the cancer had jumped, moving the diagnosis to Stage 2. She has a long road of Chemo and breast reconstruction surgeries ahead of her.
Toni, her fiance` Rick and their six kids and one grandchild have stayed in good spirits despite the hardships that come along with cancer. Her family values keep her motivated to stay strong. She has helped many others, and now she is the one in need.
Even women who are fully insured face expenses throughout the course of their treatment, co-pays and travel expenses, not to mention missed work that can cripple even the most financially stable families. As medical bills continue to add up, we are reaching out to our supportive network of family and friends for help.
