Ellie's Road to Recovery

On Sunday, July 12th, my sister and I found a stray cat. She was severely emaciated and Monday morning I took her to the vet. She weighs 4.7 pounds and she should be about 12 pounds. As can be seen in the photos above, she is a large cat, but severely underweight. From above, her spine is clearly visible. If you run your hand down her back, you can feel each vertebrae. Don't let her fluffiness fool you as she is literally a walking skeleton. To put it into perspective, that is like me weighing about 37 pounds instead of 110 pounds. The vet would like her to have a blood transfusion as she is severely anemic. The estimate for the blood transfusion is $500+ and I have already spent $215 of my own money to do her bloodwork. The vet's thoughts are it is either liver disease, internal parasites, or a stomach ulcer. I'm taking in some stool for a fecal test today, but to test for the others she needs blood drawn. However, because she is so anemic no more blood can be drawn right now. I'm doing my best to find funds to help her but it is a little tricky as I have a dog that already requires expensive medicine and am also putting myself through college. I'm hoping this will be able to raise enough money for a blood transfusion so we can give her a good shot at life. At this point, I will be putting her on an antibiotic and dewormer to see if that helps. Thank you for reading.
