Memorial Playground

Donation protected
Our parents have always told us stories of the time when Little Robert was sick in the hospital. Many months went by with multiple surgeries and attempts to help fight a tumor that at that time doctors knew very little about. Through this heartbreaking year of their lives they were surrounded by a community that not only emotionally supported our parents but when their insurance ran out, the church also financially supported them. They raised exactly enough money to pay off every single medical bill for every surgery and hospital stay they had. When our older brother passed away they gave them the opportunity to start again debt free and surrounded by a community that would take care of them.

37 years later the community is still giving to our parents in their time of need, raising money for them when our mom stopped working to take care of our dad, selling dads beautiful art work, sending notes, making phone calls, saying prayers. The love is strong and pure and has always been there.

In lieu of sending flowers, please consider a donation in honor of Robert Leroy Wright Jr. to build a Playground as a gift to a community that loved, cared, and supported our parents through the death of their son and the final days of our dad’s life. The playground will be built at Gethsemane Baptist Church.
A plaque will be put up and will say “God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.” In loving memory of Bro. Robert Leroy Wright Jr.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

-The Wright Family

Bro. Robert was pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church for 13 years and a close family friend of mine. During this time he had the desire to have a playground for the children of the church and community. As the Children’s Ministry Director, the Wright family has asked that I work with them in establishing a memorial playground so his dream would come true since the family is no longer located in this area. I will be working with the family to determine their desires for a memorial. All funds will be used to make this lifelong dream become reality for the children of the area that he loved so much. I will be working in conjunction with the family and the church to disperse all funds for this playground.
Once the playground is complete, we will be inviting the family and friends to attend a formal memorial dedication of this playground. - Bryan Shofner
