Hi my name is Naomi. Let me tell you about Tommy. Tommy is 6 with a diagnosis of Autism, significant learning difficulties and Hyper mobility along with problems with his feet. Tommy is obsessed with trikes and he had access to one in his time in reception. Sadly now he is too big for it. This has caused him to be very distressed.
Our school senco - Karen has been amazing but we do not have the funds to provide Tommy with a new trike. Tommy is currently receiving Occupational therapy daily to help with his joints but a new trike would help so much! This would not only bring him immense joy, I am emotional writing this as words can not describe the joy this would bring Tommy but this would also give him a sense of independence which is paramount to his well being as in the past independence has held him back.
This would also serve as a vital therapeutic tool for Tommy! Triking helps improve coordination, balance, motor planning, and muscle strength - skills that are often challenging for children on the Autism Spectrum.
More importantly it offers a safe and inclusive way for Tommy to engage in outdoor play and social interaction which he does struggle with. This promotes both physical and emotional development.
Any generous contributions would make a meaningful difference throughout Tommy's school day, empowering him to grow in confidence and experience the simple pleasure of riding - just like his peers - but in his own way.
As a special needs parent I want to ensure Tommy is thriving.
Finally Tommy is a generous little boy and he has just raised money for the national autistic society - he lights up the room! I would love to give something back - especially for him!
Thank you so much for your time reading this.
With love, Naomi - Tommy's Mum
