Help My Sister-in-Law Katherine Get the Kidney Transplant She Desperately Needs

Hi, my name is Anyssia, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my incredible sister-in-law, Katherine. She’s a loving wife, devoted mom, and someone who has always put others before herself. Now, she needs all of us by her side.

Katherine is fighting Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), a serious kidney disease that has significantly impacted her health and her family’s life. Through countless doctor visits, medications, and physical challenges, Katherine remains brave, resilient, and full of hope.

She’s now on the kidney transplant list, but unfortunately, the expenses go far beyond what insurance covers. While much of the surgery itself may be taken care of, there are many additional costs—like donor testing, traveling for procedures, time off work, and post-op recovery—that have become overwhelming.

We created this fundraiser so Katherine and her family can focus on healing rather than financial worry. Every donation will go toward:

    •    Medical expenses not fully covered by insurance

    •    Donor testing and care costs

    •    Travel and lodging for hospital visits and procedures

    •    Recovery expenses so she can rest and heal without added stress

After talking things over with Katherine and her husband and reviewing all the upcoming medical and living expenses, we’ve decided to update the goal amount on this GoFundMe. When we first started the fundraiser, we set the goal lower just to get things moving quickly. But as we’ve learned more about the costs involved—including travel, time off work, medications, and long-term care—we realized the original goal wasn’t enough to cover what’s ahead. We want everyone to know this decision came after a lot of thought and conversations as a family. We are beyond grateful for the love, support, and generosity we’ve already received.
