Maeve’s recovery

Hi everyone, our sweet Maeve had an accident in the backyard on Tuesday night. We believe she may have run into some play equipment at her full greyhound speed. By the time she was at the specialist vet, she was no longer able to bear weight on any of her legs. An MRI revealed she had a huge amount of bleeding along her spinal cord. She then underwent surgery and a 10cm haematoma was removed from her spinal cord. On top of the surgery, we now know she also has a condition called hyperfibrinolysis, (occurs in around 30% of greyhounds) which means her blood clots initially but the clots don’t hold for very long. This has meant she’s had to be in intensive care for longer than expected.

Our pup is very resilient and she is on the mend. She is eating more and more but still not able to get herself up as she has a lot of healing to do from the swelling and spinal cord surgery. We’re lucky we ended up at Small Animal Specialist Hospital, where the staff have been taking amazing care of her.

Any money you can donate will go towards Maeve’s vet bills. We understand that money is tight for everyone at the moment so please only donate if you can. We do have good pet insurance but there has still been an lot out of pocket expenses.

We appreciate any help ❤️
