On August 2nd, my life changed in a way I never expected. I suffered a stroke while I was at work. In an instant, everything I took for granted — my independence, my ability to move freely, my vision, my memory, and my ability to work — was deeply affected.
The stroke left me with paralysis on my left side, balance problems, and blurry vision. I rely on a walker to get around, and everyday tasks that used to be simple now take enormous effort. I’ve spent months in rehab and continue to work hard every day to regain strength and function, but the process is slow and unpredictable.
Before the stroke, I was working two jobs and going to school, pushing myself to create a better future. The combination of high blood pressure, lack of rest, and constant stress caught up with me. I never imagined it would cost me my health.
Since then, I have not been able to return to work. I also had to step away from school because of vision and memory challenges. On top of losing my income, the medical bills, therapy costs, and daily living expenses have continued to pile up. I applied for Social Security Disability, but my first application was denied, and I am now in the process of appealing. Meanwhile, the financial strain has become overwhelming.
I am incredibly grateful for my family and friends who have supported me through this journey. Their encouragement keeps me going — but I also know it has been a heavy burden on them. Asking for help is not easy for me. I’ve always tried to take care of myself and those around me. But right now, I cannot do this alone.
That’s why I’m reaching out through this fundraiser.
Your support will help cover medical costs, ongoing rehabilitation, basic living expenses, and transportation to my appointments — all things that are essential for my recovery and quality of life. Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a real difference. If you aren’t able to give, sharing my story is also a huge help.
My goal is to heal, regain as much independence as possible, and ultimately return to the things I love — including working, finishing school, and even getting back on stage to perform again someday. This stroke changed my life, but it has not taken away my hope or determination.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and thank you for any support you can offer. Your kindness truly means more than I can express.
— Steve
