On September 29, at 5am, our brother, Wislor Francois, went into cardiac arrest (not to be mistaken for a heart attack) and remained in a coma, unresponsive, following his resuscitation. The most movement any of us had seen since that morning is medically referred to as posturing, which is indicative to severe brain injury; pretty much, he was seizing. The doctors strongly believed that the cardiac arrest was caused by a pulmonary embolism. Our brother battled a number of ailments that plagued him whilst in the coma. He was fighting a fever that fluctuated between 99.0-103. His left lung collapsed and was severely inflamed, which resulted with bleeding. We were still very hopeful that Wiz would have recovered and awakened from his coma but then his EEG results revealed that the person whom we all knew as Wislor was gone.
It was confirmed that there was little activity in part of the brain stem. Unfortunately this part of the brain cannot be stimulated and controls only involuntary actions of the body such as yawning, heart rate, breathing etc. At this point, they didn’t believe Wiz would wake from the coma...and they were right.
After being on life support for a week and then hospice for another, our beloved brother passed at 3:15am today, October 17, at the age of 25.
We thank you all for your outpour of sincere condolences to our family for our recent happenings. Unfortunately we are in need of some financial assistance for the burial of our beloved brother. We anticipate having the ceremony this Saturday, October 24th, 2015, but due to his sudden passing, we are unable to provide the necessary funds needed by the required deadline. Any amount of donation would be greatly appreciated. Please continue to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers during this tragic time.
Again, thank you.
