Hello family, friends, coworkers and other wonderful folks who surround The Monge's. Jose Monge has been hospitalized for over 23 days due to a severe foot infection. It started out as minor Cellulitis, he had killer bacteria in the tissues of his foot which lead to a blood infection. He was hours away from losing his life. Jose's foot was swollen with blood blisters all throughout. They originally cut open the area hoping it would relieve some pressure, this only made the infection worse. He remained in ICU until his septic levels were safe. Infectious Disease Physicians called for all tests including cultures to be taken. They tried 7 different antibiotics, none to avail. As Jose continued to run fevers, the bacteria continued to eat away at his foot leading to abscesses. Finally after day 11, the right antiobotic took place. Orthopedic surgeons had to come in and assess the damage done which required 4 surgeries to remove the dead skin, tissue, muscle and bacteria from his right foot. This unfortunately lead to the amputation of a toe due to the lack of blood circulation. He's currently on a wound vac to help the healing process. This doesn't rule out the possibility of having to amputate his entire foot and/or a complete below the knee amputation. Either way, he's required several skin grafts in order to close the huge wound. This has been a long process and endless prayers for a safe and healthy return home to his beautiful wife, Jenifer and 4 beautiful children. For those who know the Monge family, they just welcomed in their 4th child, Luna 7 weeks ago. The hardship of not working and not being able to bring in any income has been a huge weight. Short term disability has been of no help. We understand everyone has their own battles to fight, but please take into consideration that we all are together as one when it comes to family. However you can be of help with the Monge family would be GREATLY appreciated. Donations to this website are needed as well as taking the time to pray, reach and out and possibly prepping easy meals and care packages. Babysitting time so Jen can visit her husband, help with homework, cleaning, diapers, etc... We thank you for taking the time to read this and being apart of their world! Blessings :)
