Support Deborah's Healing Journey after Brain Injury

To our amazing network of friends, family and caring strangers.

We are Deborah’s family, and we’re reaching out to ask for your support as our dearly loved sister faces an incredibly difficult road ahead after a head injury.

On October 27, 2024, Deborah was injured while working a retail job she held while also self employed as a Life Coach and Professional Organizer—roles that truly showcased her superpowers: a calling to serve and heal others, remarkable planning and organizational skills, and an inspiring ability to solve problems and manage projects.

Since the injury, so much has changed. The strengths and energy that once defined Deborah have been deeply affected. Everyday tasks that we often take for granted can be constant challenges she faces alone, with a brain that no longer functions as it once did. Now, tasks needed for her chosen professions requiring advanced cognitive skills, organization and multitasking are no longer automatic.

Deborah continues to face daily challenges that most people never see. In addition to her physical injuries to her neck, upper back and esophagus, she experiences neurocognitive impairment/confusion, cognitive fatigue and attention memory problems which mean, mental tasks take much more effort and can result in neurological shut down. In addition, she experiences audio processing slow down, speech delay and a dysregulation of her vestibular and sensory filtering systems which means light, sight, sound and motion can trigger a cascade of physical symptoms requiring her to remove or reduce the sensory input. Managing symptoms and dealing with the progressive nature of a brain injury makes this a long and uncertain recovery process.

Why We’re Asking for Help

My family and I all live in different states and we have been assisting her over the phone, through email and limited visits to her when possible. The financial burden of a brain injury is immense. Deborah is unable to work her complex jobs and has exhausted her savings. We want to make sure Deborah can focus on healing without the constant stress of how to pay for essentials.

Your donation will help cover:

  • Uncovered critical care medical treatments and equipment.
  • Brain Injury Specialists and advanced imaging.
  • Ongoing therapies and specialized rehabilitation therapies.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation Services, work related expenses, and other essential resources to support recovery and successful return to employment.
  • Caregiver reimbursements any unexpected personal expenses that may arise.

How You Can Support Deborah

Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference in Deborah’s recovery and ease the financial burden during this challenging time. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser or keeping Deborah in your thoughts is also deeply appreciated. Deborah’s family will be collecting and managing the funds on her behalf, and we will all provide updates on how the funds are being used to support Deborah recovery.

We know that Deborah has touched many lives through her kindness, wisdom, and service to others. Now, we hope and pray our community can come together to support her as she faces this new and difficult chapter. From the depth of our hearts, we thank you for your generosity and compassion.
