Zernicke Kids’ College Fund

My brother-in-law, Matt Zernicke, passed away suddenly in his sleep on July 3rd.  I’m absolutely devastated but it doesn't even compare to the heartbreak and loss my sister, Megan Zernicke, and her three young kids are experiencing right now.   I want to help my big sister however I can and even though she told me not to- in true sister fashion I’m going against her wishes and setting up this fund.  I just want to give her and her 3 wonderful kids (my nephew and two nieces) a good start on their college funds and help with whatever else they may need. (She has authorized me to withdrawal the funds on her behalf and direct the money to college savings plans for the kids and whatever else she may need help with.)

From my sister, Megan, who lost her beloved husband and father of 3 suddenly on Thursday night -
“I can’t even begin to put into words what the last 24 hrs have been like. I lost my best friend, the best husband, most amazing father, hardest worker, my rock, my better half. I have no clue how life is supposed to go on without him. Where do I start?

We had the BEST night on Thursday. He was done with work early, we laid on the beach and watched the kids swim, went out to dinner, and came back to play euchre. So many laughs. Life seemed so good. ❤️

In the morning, he was clearly gone.

I could NOT have gotten through that experience without my best friends Kris Haglund & Janeen Haglund who jumped into action while I was in shock. I can never repay what they did, and they will forever be family. The multiple neighbors that helped with the kids. The best mama tribe that showed up and took over with food and laundry and everything else I didn’t know I needed. And my family, rallying around me. ❤️

I’m lost. My kids.....my heart breaks. I appreciate the messages, I don’t know what I need, but I don’t want to be alone. I’m scared. But mostly.....I’m so freakin sad.”
