Zeppelin’s Cancer Fund

**Disclaimer: Zeppelin and my parents are lifelong locals to New West, I moved to the USA and since I am running this fundraiser for them it says based in the USA**
Hi, my name is Sloane. On Christmas Eve 2016 my parents brought home a tiny puppy with a belly full of worms and a big, goofy personality. We named him Zeppelin.
He quickly grew into a 100lbs goober and his personality grew with him. He announces everyone’s arrival with an “awoowoo,” and if you’re running behind schedule he will be SURE to let you know. He enjoys paddle boarding in the summer, shovelling snow with his face in the winter, and playing tag around the house year-round. He doesn’t like being brushed, but he DOES like being vacuumed. His true passion, however, is organizing sticks. Zeppelin carries the biggest sticks he can manage (they’re more like logs) and organizes them into distinct piles in distinct locations. He organizes giant sticks like it’s his job and we love him for it.
In mid-July 2025, my mom noticed a mass on Zeppelin’s right foreleg and she scheduled an appointment for the following day. After examining the lump, the vet advised my mom to leave it for a week and observe it to see if it went down as it could’ve been a bug bite Zeppelin was having a severe reaction to.
Within 4 days the mass grew from 3cm to 4cm. The vet took a tissue sample and several days later the lab results came back, and my parents learned Zeppelin has cancer. On Friday August 1 Zeppelin has an appointment with a surgeon to determine next steps, possibilities right now are he has surgery to remove the carcinoma on his leg that same day, or it will be scheduled for later. Once removed, the mass on his leg will be sent to the oncologist for further testing to determine next steps.
At this stage, we don’t have much concrete information. We don’t know how treatable this type of cancer yet, we don’t know if other areas of his body will require treatment and if so, what kind of treatment will be needed. As my mom has said, “baby steps, one doctor at a time, one new choices at a time.”
What we DO know is the costs are going to pile up very quickly, and the first appointment to simply meet with the surgeon is $280. My parents have spent the majority of 2025 financially and physically supporting other family members experiencing dire health issues, and in April my dad blew out his knee and broke his ankle which put him out of work for months, he’s still in need of a knee replacement. To put it simply, my parents are working themselves to the bone on all fronts and they need financial support that I am unable to give.
I will provide updates as I get them and I will adjust the fundraising goal based on the new information my parents get from the vet team. Please help my parents give Zeppelin the best possible chance of beating cancer. Thank you
