A SPECIAL NOTE FROM M:
Dear Community Members,
My name is M Kim-Miller and I’m asking for your help to open my new touch therapy practice! I am opening this practice for many reasons, but primarily, I feel called upon to help heal the queer trauma that I have witnessed around me and experienced throughout my life. Additionally, this new career path will also allow me to practice my craft in a low-light environment, which has become a necessity for me as my eyesight deteriorates from a medical condition. While this was initially an obstacle for me, through this new career path I have found a new way to see and help those around me — by using my hands to work with our community's bodies and energies.
A little more about my background… I graduated from The George Washington University with a B.A. in Dance as a Presidential Scholar for the Arts. During my seven years on the East Coast, I had the opportunity and greatest pleasure to work and collaborate with incredible artists such as Maida Withers, Anna Sperber, Dana Tai Soon Burgess, Roger Bellman, and countless other talented artists that reshaped the way I understood my body and senses' capabilities.
It was shortly after graduating that I was diagnosed with a degenerative eye condition, and learned my field of vision will continue to diminish. Rather than let this stop me, I have decided to chart a new career forward that will work around my eye condition. Everything in my life has led me to this; I can continue using my body and hands to dance, regardless of my deteriorating sight, to effectuate healing touch for the community. It’s my greatest work of art I can perform and comes from deep within my soul's need and decision to inject joy, love, and thriving into the world community that I love so dearly.
San Francisco and Downtown in particular are in dire need of more POC & LGBTQIA+ business owners such as myself. Thank you for believing in me with your loving and financial support; it will literally catapult me into a higher plane of existence (to the 22nd floor of the iconic building that is 450 Sutter) that fosters fruitful, synergistic connection with my community.
With your support, I look forward to seeing you on the ZenState table.
With Zen,
M Kim-Miller
