I am Jo Quincey, Certified Zentangle Teacher the creator of Zenjo Zentangle.
On 18th January 2026 I fly out to Ghana to visit Mandie Case, Founder and executive Director of Africa Youth Rising, a not for profit charity. A big part of this is Grace House (Adom Fie), West-Africa’s first free day care centre for disabled children.
I've created this page to raise funds so that I can take Zentangle and art supplies to be able to teach and share Zentangle with the charity staff, parents, support workers, the local community and groups.
Please help me to

THE BACKGROUND
Since 2020 I have run a weekly online Tangle Club with participants joining from all over the world.

At one session in 2020 one of the tanglers, Connie Case CZT from Utah, USA said she had to leave early to take her daughter, Mandie, to the Airport.
I asked where she was going and Connie said, "Ghana!"

And that’s how I learned about the incredible work Mandie was doing to protect, support and care for vulnerable and disabled children. She works tirelessly to make life changing differences that we can only imagine.

Mandie and some of the children.

.....and that is how the amazing partnership between ZENJO ZENTANGLE and AFRICA YOUTH RISING began, with one simple question and one unexpected answer.

What started as a passing comment became a conversation, then a friendship, and now a movement.

After COVID hit, Africa Youth Rising was struggling. That’s when Darcy Ellarby CZT, a Zenjo Tangle Club member, and I decided to take action.

In September 2020, we hosted an online Zentangle Class fundraiser, sharing Mandie's story and invited the Zenjo and Zentangle community to join in — and then, we simply never stopped!!

That first class raised an incredible $3,000!

Five years later, Zenjo has held two major fundraisers, bringing in over $15,000 in total.

Even more amazing, 25 members of the Zenjo community have become monthly supporters, together giving over $1,500 every month!!

Some of the children being cared for and supported by AYR.
What began with curiosity grew into a passion — and became a powerful force for good.
Through the art of Zentangle, connection, and compassion, my online Zenjo Community has become AYR’s largest benefactor!!

Until very recently I had no idea of the involvement of so many of my contacts and followers or the impact this has upon what Mandie can afford to do for the children and their wider family.

Educational play

For 5 years I have been saying that I will go out to Ghana.
I fly out to Ghana on 18th January 2026!!....just 8 weeks away!!

I am finally able to go out and see for myself the AYR day centre, Grace House and meet the children, staff and wider community.

This is cheeky Debo. Such a cutie!

  • WHAT DO I NEED?
I am funding the trip myself but whilst over there I will also be sharing Zentangle with the staff and parents and several different local groups and organisations. Zentangle is not very well known in Africa but the

To do this I will need materials - basic Zentangle supplies or PENS, PENCILS, TORTILLONS and TILES/PAPER...and so much more.

The children may not be able to grasp Zentangle but I want to take out some art supplies suitable for children with disabilities - large pens, washable paint, rolls of paper and more.

These materials aren't easy to source or are simply unavailable in rural Ghana, so I have to take them with me.

To be able to take the good quality supplies (and plenty of them) I will need at least £1000.

I have over 14K followers on Facebook and many more on other platforms.
Just imagine what we could do if you all donated £1.00 or £5.00 or £10?
Between us we can do this...Can't we?
Together we can make a difference.

  • Please can you help me get these Zentangle supplies by giving what you can to make this happen?

  • Jo and Mandie at the Zenjo Retreat 2025
(Zenjo sponsors Mandie to join the Zenjo Retreat for a much needed break and to share her story and passion)

I know that by sharing the creative calm, joy and fun of Zentangle I can make a difference to so many.

With your support WE can make it happen.

With huge gratitude,
Jo
