The Zemlinsky Chamber Orchestra is an ensemble based in The Netherlands, made up of young professional musicians from all over the world, many of whom have lost work as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ensemble is not only a way to get these musicians back on stage as part of a new, vibrant orchestra, but does so in a way that constantly adapts to ever-changing government regulations.
To not be able to perform live puts us all in a difficult situation and in order for the ZCO to function, we need your support. Whether it’s a little or a lot, you are still helping us keep our artistic spark alight! Our goal of this crowdfunding is to ask your support for our upcoming projects. This December we will rehearse, perform and present to you our recordings of Gustav Mahler's Fourth Symphony and the Kammersymphonie by Alexander von Zemlinsky!
The ZCO is made up of a mixture of musicians, varying from soloists to chamber musicians to orchestral players. This kind of ensemble bridges the gap between all these types of music making, and brings the spotlight onto every individual musician, as well as the orchestra as a group.
Although the entire project started with his music, naming our orchestra after Alexander von Zemlinsky is not necessarily a celebration of just one composer. Instead we see him as a symbol for all extraordinary, yet lesser-known and underrated music that we wish to share with the world. Instead of only playing the classics, the centre focus of our programmes is on this fresh repertoire (across all genres) and how it fits into the modern society.
The last few months we worked very hard to make recordings of Schubert’s Fifth Symphony and Vier Lieder by Alma Mahler. We did this completely using our own investments, and with this crowdfunding we kindly ask you to help us funding our next projects.

Het Zemlinksy Chamber Orchestra is een kamerorkest, bestaande uit jonge professionele musici uit de hele wereld. De meesten verloren hun werk vanwege de coronacrisis. Het ensemble biedt een platform voor deze musici om hen weer op het podium te krijgen als deel van een nieuw en levendig orkest, en manoeuvreert binnen de steeds veranderende reglementen vanuit de overheid.
Het niet live kunnen uitvoeren van muziek brengt ons musici in een moeilijke situatie. Om het functioneren van het ZCO te waarborgen, hebben we uw hulp hard nodig. Of het een klein beetje is of juist heel veel: u kunt ons helpen om onze artistieke vlam brandende te houden! Wat wij gaan doen? Deze maand gaan we aan de slag om nieuwe opnames van Mahler's Vierde Symfonie en de Kammersymphonie van Alexander von Zemlinsky te presenteren!

Hoewel het orkest begon met zijn muziek, zet het orkest met de vernoeming naar Alexander von Zemlinsky hem niet noodzakelijk als enige componist in het middelpunt. Wij zien hem als symbool voor alle bijzondere, onbekende en ondergewaardeerde muziek die we willen delen met de wereld. Het spelen van de klassiekers maakt in onze programma’s plaats voor een focus op dit onbekende repertoire (door alle genres heen) en hoe dat in de moderne samenleving past.
De laatste maanden hebben we keihard gewerkt om opnames van Schuberts Vijfde Symfonie en Vier Lieder van Alma Mahler te maken. Dit hebben we volledig uit eigen zak gefinancierd en met deze crowdfunding vragen we uw hulp voor onze komende projecten.
