On Wednesday, 9/21/22, my Friend Emma Clifford, called me and asked me to help her find her two dogs that went missing. She was in Florida, and the sitter had left the gate open, and both her dogs Zelda and Arlo got out. A team of friends searched for hours for them. They located them, and when they tried to bring them into the van, they got spooked and ran into two-lane traffic. Both dogs were hit by a truck in front of our very eyes. Arlo took off running while Zelda flew into the air and landed in a ditch. We thought she was dead. We immediately scooped her up and took her to the emergency vet.
Those of you who don't know Emma, She has dedicated her life to helping pets worldwide through her non-profit "Animal Balance," providing spay/neuter and veterinary care to the Galapagos, First Nation communities and the list goes on for her selfless acts. Emma got the first flight home to take care of her babies. She always puts the animals first.
Arlo survived with minimal injuries, but Zelda received the most significant injuries. She had to have her left eye removed this morning and has a pelvic fracture in 3 places that needs to be repaired. One night in the veterinary emergency clinic was $7,000. She is now looking at another $7,000 to have the pelvis repaired. All to save her best friends that she left into the care of a pet sitter, who is now missing in action and not being responsible.
Suppose you can find it in your heart to spare $5.00 or any amount to help her pay these unexpected vet bills to save her best friend. Any amount would be greatly appreciated.
When I saw the number of people who came out to look for the missing dogs, I knew that Emma has many caring friends and is very cared for.
Give up one Starbucks coffee to help a person who would help you or your pet at a moment's notice.
Sincerely,
Jen Betz
