In mid-December, our son Zeke was hospitalized due to abdominal pain. He was discharged on Christmas Eve after a four-day stay. However, it seemed too soon as the cause of his internal pain remained undiagnosed. Less than two weeks later, Zeke was readmitted to the hospital, where he spent the next six weeks fighting for his life while lying on his back. It was an incredibly frightening time for all of us.

Zeke faced sepsis twice, internal bleeding, kidney shutdown, a 55-pound increase in water weight, a dangerously low heart rate, anemia, and a host of other complications. Numerous tests and procedures were conducted during his hospitalization, culminating in a nine-and-a-half-hour emergency surgery. The surgery revealed that Zeke's colon had perforated, with parts meshed together in an indescribable infectious mess. Dr. Law and his team performed the surgery, removing a significant portion of Zeke's intestine.

If the surgery had been delayed even one more day, the outcome could have been vastly different. We extend our deepest gratitude to the many doctors and nurses, as well as all the individuals who swiftly attended to Zeke's needs, including those who ensured his surroundings remained clean. Special thanks go to Dr. Law, whose surgical expertise saved Zeke's life. As Zeke told Dr. Law, "You're a superhero, even without a cape."
