WHAT?
A sensory theatrical experience for ages 2 and up.
A performer encounters a strange time-being. They sniff each other, circle one another, and try to find a common language. Playing together, they become increasingly greedy, devouring and transforming each other—until one of them turns out to be a time-eater.
Is it already time to eat? Why does time fly when you're having fun? Why does everything take longer when you have to wait? Sand trickles from the ceiling through fingers, making time something you can truly experience.
Afterward, the stage opens up into a sensory island for children and their companions: sand, space and time are ready for continued play, discovery, and lingering.
Duration: approx. 25 minutes + open play
WHEN?
Premiere: 19th of September at Theater Purpur

WHY?
How does a child navigate the tension between rigid daily routines and the need for freedom?
In "Zeitfresser", we use trickling sand and movement to make the concept of time tangible. In Zurich’s fast-paced environment, we create a necessary space for Entschleunigung (deceleration). Using visual storytelling instead of words, the play is fully accessible to families from all language backgrounds. After the performance, the sand remains as a tool for open-ended play, allowing children and caregivers to meet through tactile exploration.
By making time visible and felt, we support cognitive growth and foster mindfulness. Your support brings high-quality cultural education to the youngest citizens.
The funds will directly cover the artistic production costs: the salaries of the creative team and the scenography. It ensures that we can offer this high-level aesthetic experience at Theater Purpur while keeping it accessible for the community.
WHO?
The project is driven by Interways Theater, an association dedicated to bridging Switzerland’s cultural and linguistic divides. At its heart is Sophia Pervilhac, a multilingual performer (French, German, Italian, English) with a passion for early-years theatre.
Sophia believes that art for the youngest citizens is the "seed" of future cultural participation. By using visual storytelling to bypass language barriers, she creates inclusive, intergenerational moments that bring diverse communities together. Following the Zurich premiere at Theater Purpur in September 2026, her goal is to tour this non-verbal production across all linguistic regions of Switzerland, fostering exchange between children, caregivers, and venues nationwide.
