Chris Floden was born with a very serious congenital cardiac anomaly known as transposition of the great arteries, and underwent an atrial redirection operation known as a Mustard procedure. This resulted in this anatomic right ventricle functioning as his systemic ventricle. This has put definite overall limitations on his endurance, as the right ventricle is not designed to pump as his systemic ventricle. Over the years he has developed complications to his surgery that have included prior cardiac arrest requiring CPR treatment, persistent atrial and ventricular arrhythmia that required medication and ICD implantation. However over the decades this has put a lot of extra pressure on the heart. Chris was placed on a heart transplant list as of 7-23-2020, as a level 4 candidate. (Placement on the heart transplant waiting list will be accordance to specific criteria met for status levels 1 through 6: 1-3: Most often hospitalized in ICU to support their heart. 4: This group is often at home but may need IV medications or VAD to support their heart. 6: This group included all others who are stable enough to remain home while they wait for a heart).
Why am I asking for your help? (1)The Floden's are the most amazing family.....Chris is married to Stacy and they have two sons Trent and Trey. Of course, Chris can not work at this time and it will be a while before (if ever) he can work again. (2) After the heart transplant at UK - they will have to live near the hospital for at least a month. This will require them to rent a place, plus all the bills with living elsewhere. (3) Medications - after transplant medications are very expensive. (4) Stacy will have to take time off to help Chris recover and she should be good with having paid time, but there are so many unknowns in this world.
