Unexpected Death of Husband/Father
Donation protected
My nephew, John Kerr-Mellott, passed away on April 23, 2018 from kidney and liver failure at 31. He had been in three different hospitals the last two months. He was helicoptered in to the last one, where he was in ICU for over a week. The doctors were baffled how quickly everything shut down at such a young age.
He has left behind his wife, Kelly and young son, Scotty. Kelly is going to have so many medical bills to pay, including the air ambulance, not to mention funeral costs. John had retired from Maricopa County Sheriff's Corrections Department, where he was a sergeant. He suffered PTSD from his many years in the prison system and was not able to work steadily, so they were also behind in household bills.
Because of his big heart, he adopted his nephew so he wouldn't go into foster care. Scotty will be 7 years old in May. He is athletic and has a love for music, just like his dad. Scotty was at his dad's side singing to him before John passed away.
Talk about a big heart, John became a Boy Scout leader for Kelly's son, Javier. It was a passion for him and he actually brought back to life the church troop where he had been a scout. He was the one in the family that kept everyone together, hosting holiday dinners with Kelly. They finally decided to tie the knot in 2015, so they were practically newlyweds.
Donations will help relieve Kelly's mounting financial burden. This will allow her to devote attention to caring for Scotty, who has already lost his first father. Any amount will be appreciated.
