Urgent Help for Marty’s Seizure Treatment

Donation protected
This is Marty, the official Mystry Mart kitty from Brooklyn, NY.

We found Marty when we were painting Mystry Mart's vending machine back in late September (2024). He was living in a cardboard box on the stoop of a neighbor in Sheepshead Bay when we met him. The neighbors told us he had randomly shown up about a week before we first met him.

He was super tiny but had the biggest heart a cat could have. He would come out from the box when we called for him and would follow us down the street. We (as well as other neighbors) brought him food and checked on him every day. We still aren't sure of his exact age but believe he is around 1-3 years old.

We fell in love with him and admittedly wanted to take him home, but weren't able to. We couldn't finish the mural and leave knowing that he would still be there so we convinced our dear friend Vicky, cat lover and founder of Mystry Mart, to meet him around the corner that day. She fell in love with him too, and she and her partner Eugene ended up adopting him immediately.

He stayed with us in the tent we were painting in and stuck with us for several days and never left. He loved sitting on our laps and just wanted to cuddle the whole time (which admittedly made it very difficult to work.)

Marty had some skin issues and parasites when we first found him (parasites confirmed via bloodwork), which had been resolved shortly after with medication. He has been living with Vicky, Eugene, and his brother cat Kosha and had been doing well and loving apartment life.

We just received news from Vicky that as of yesterday (11/18) Marty had begun having unexplained major seizures. He had two yesterday within an hour of each other and a third major seizure today (11/19). Vicky and Eugene rushed Marty to their vet, where Marty fainted, and were urged by the doctor to bring him to an ER immediately. The ER vet told them that the seizures could be happening due to a brain tumor and that they should go to a different vet for an that was more affordable (Vicky was unfortunately laid off from her job last month) where they could get an EKG and x-rays done. They brought Marty to the recommended vet, performed a check up, and told them afterwards that they do not perform either EKGs or x-rays and that they would need to find a specialist.

As previously stated, Vicky was laid off from her job last month and doesn't have the capability of bringing Marty to any more vets as of now. All Vicky wants is to make sure that Marty is comfortable and safe, and would greatly appreciate help of any kind.

Much Love,
