Hi there! My name is Amber Jones and I am raising money to cover medical care expenses for my little sister who is in the battle of (and for) her life.
Emily is her name and she loves autumn and country music and adventures with her kids. Speaking of kids, she has five of the most beautiful: Taylor (14), Mari (13), Malia (12), Makenna (10), and Chance (9). As you can see, she has her hands full on her best days but, for the past six months she hasn't seen many good - let alone best - days.
Emily is 33 yrs old and battling Stage 4A recurring cervical cancer. It has spread and has also created a fistula in her pelvic region. If you simply Google this condition, you will clearly see how very painful, humiliating, and life-threatening it is.
She is beginning chemo this week and we are praying that it can give her many more years with her kids. We are also asking God for a true miracle of remission (even though, technically, recurring cancer cannot be cured).
Why are we raising money? Here is a breakdown of what needs to be funded:
1.) Emily is currently going through a package or two per day of the most expensive continence products due to the fistula and the fact that the cancer has spread to her bladder. This costs approximately $30/day alone.
2.) Emily's prescriptions (for pain management) are currently costing hundreds of dollars out of pocket per month.
3.) Emily may need to travel to get a second opinion in March 2016 and/or look for entry into experiemental treatments should the chemo not work. This could total in the thousands of dollars.
4.) Emily may need to employ child care providers in the months to come as she is enduring weekly chemo and doctor appointments. With five children in school, there is always a need for someone to: pick up/drop off, meet at the school bus, take to extracurricular activities, watch after school, etc. Though Emily has a great support network, almost every one of her family and friends hold down full time jobs of their own and cannot be there for all of the childcare needs.
Emily's husband is a hard-working man who is doing all that he can to make ends meet. With a family of seven, ends were just meeting before Emily's health was in jeopardy. With all of the new expenses, it will be virtually impossible to keep up without help.
I'm the last person on earth that would ask for financial help under normal circumstances. But these circumstances are, quite simply, the worst. And when it comes to my little sister and her children, I have no shame. :)
So, friends, if you feel compelled, please give. Any amount, no matter how small, will help her family get through this crisis.
From my heart to yours,
Amber
