Ryan's college fund

This sweet child has been raised by a single mother her entire life. Due to her mother's health problems, she's bounced around from house to house and even spent time in foster care. A year and a half ago, she was reunited with her mother, whose health had seemingly improved.
Now, at 17, she just got the devastating news that her mother has only a couple of weeks to live. There's no father and no immediate family where she lives. She's a strong student, who is graduating from high school in a couple of months. She's been very involved in clubs at her school, including drama and choir. She's an amazing singer and the president of her high school chorus. She's been accepted to several universities and I want to make sure she has money to attend.
Due to Jen's illness, she hasn't been able to work for years and her only income has been disability. She has no real assets to leave her daughter. This beautiful girl has been living on her own for five weeks while her mom is in the hospital - taking care of herself, feeding herself, paying the bills, getting herself to and from school and keeping up her grades.
She has been offered some scholarship money and her wonderful school counselor is working on getting her every penny she can. She'll also take out loans and work her way through. But imagine going to college with no parents to help guide you. Imagine not having that support system. Imagine having no funds.
Thanks to her life experiences and a counselor who has believed in her and inspired her, Ryan has found her calling. She's like to be a high school counselor and someday help a kid like her.
Having a little nest egg won't bring her mom back, but it will eliminate one of the biggest stresses in her life right now. I've known Ryan since the day she was born and I was lucky enough to have her live in my home for awhile and be part of my family. I can tell you that she and I will both be so incredibly grateful for any donations and you will be helping a very special child become a remarkable adult.
