Dear friend, dedicated father, inspiring artist, talented chef, and loving companion are only a few characteristics Matt Owens. The friends and family he leaves behind were blessed to know Matt. There was so much creativity and talent wrapped into a single being that it flowed from him and shined like a light in a the dark.
On February 4th 2016 at approximately 6:00 a.m. Matt's heart stopped unexpectedly. Later on that day the family was informed that Matt had lost brain function and would not recover. Matt was 38 years old.
Matt was currently in between jobs, recently losing his position as the Chef at Bluefin restaurant in downtown Memphis due to a change of ownership. He was dedicated to his arts and worked in the restaurant business all his life. He had no prior helath concerns nor did he have any health/life insurance, typically coverage is not provided to those in the restaurant industry.
Let's help take the financial burden off the family during this time of need. Any funds left over from the expenses of these services will be provided to the children's mother. Funds are needed as soon as possible for this unexpected occurance.
Matt was a wonderful man with a simple way of living. He worked hard and used his talents to bring joy to others. These details only scratch the surface of who Matt Owens was to those who knew him. We,Matt's friends and family, appreciate your generousity in helping during this time of need.
As a reflection on this man's life we can look back and know that he enjoyed his time her with us. He fathered three children that he loved more than anything else, and he had found someone special that made Matt feel happy and complete. Dear friend, brother, father, and son....you will be missed and never forgotten.
