Unexpected Vehicle Repairs

Hello all. This is difficult for me to write. I'm no stranger to asking for help; that is partly why I've been so successful as a college student. However, asking for financial help is unfamiliar territory which is requiring that I swallow my pride. Frankly, I'm embarrassed to be in this position to ask for this kind of help.

Last night, unexpectedly, my Subaru's engine decided to fail. After dropping it off overnight at the closest Subaru dealership, I was contacted this afternoon and informed of the preliminary costs of replacing the engine: early estimates are $7,000 on the low end. I have a little room to put some of the expenses on my credit cards. I am pursuing avenues through my college for an emergency financial aid budget adjustment due to "extenuating circumstances"; if approved by the committee on Wednesday, it will allow me to take out and additional $2,500 in student loans. All things considered, I can't cover the entirety of these expenses alone.

Some of you may be questioning why I would be so adamant on repairing this vehicle. It's more than a car to me. This car has given me so much more than transportation from point A to point B. It has introduced me to a community of Subaru car enthusiast whom I now call close friends. It is the first expensive item I have owned in my life, and is the source of inspiration for me to continue working hard toward my goals in life, including excelling as a student. It is an extension of myself, an extroverted presentation of my introverted personality that I can live vicariously through. My car is one of my favorite things in the world; it provides a feeling like no other when I am cruising backroads or coastal highways, alone, or with others, in community, in groups of 10, 20, 50 car enthusiasts. My car is my self-care, thus, it is more than "just a car."
