On Monday October 23,2023 at 5:26 am I received a phone call from a man I didn’t know. This man was calling to inform me that my husband had flagged his down from the side of the road and appeared to be severely hurt. I asked the gentleman where they were located and raced out to Kevin. Upon arriving to the scene it was dark but my lights were just enough to show the shadow of Kevin’s truck in the trees and Kevin on the bed of the unknown man’s truck. He was very injured and required immediate medical attention. We rushed him to the bainbridge hospital and after several X-rays and CT scans, we were informed that he had indeed fractured his neck, and his elbow. This would most likely require surgery. At that point we were transferred to TMH, where they explained after conducting their own scans that he had not only fractured c6 in his neck but shattered the bones. The Neurosurgeon continued to explain that the only reason Kevin wasn’t paralyzed was by the grace of god. Because in all of his years he has never seen anyone able to move after a injury like his let alone walk. Tuesday morning Kevin had his first surgery to repair his shattered neck. Things seem to have went well. Dr explained it was worse than expected, and things would show over time if they did all they needed to. Wednesday he started his recovery as we awaited the next step. By Thursday we were on to the next surgery to fix his elbow. This was a hard surgery for Kevin, and required a nerve block, but after this was all said and done by the grace of god he was able to move and continue his recovery. Unfortunately here is where everything gets challenging, the Doctors say he will recover but it will be a long process. He will be out of work few at least a few weeks, he will be in a neck collar for at least 12 weeks, he may require more surgeries later on, and many follow up appointments here in Tallahassee. This is where our family of 6 Kevin, myself, and our four children will be face with a financial challenge, and it couldn’t come at a more inconvenient time with the holidays around the corner, and with us trying to break ground for our future home on land we recently purchased. However we remain hopeful with a huge support group of family, our friend family, and our A-1 Industry family. Thank you for your support and may we now allow god to do his work and the help of others to get through these tough times.
