This is my father, Norman A. Ross. He is a wonderful man and father, an Air Force veteran, a Christian, and has generously given to others all of his life. In his life, he and my mother opened their home to troubled teens and tried to get them back on the right path. Throughout his adult life, he worked tirelessly helping others. Now, he is in trouble. He has Alzheimer’s disease. For the last ten years, he was doing well on medications. My mother died suddenly Jan 1, 2014, and he started declining. They were married over 6o years. Alzheimer’s started causing seizures, and he lost his ability to drive. He wanted to stay independent, so we all took turns taking him places, cooking for him, and taking him to doctor’s appointments. He soon declined further and moved in with me about 6 weeks ago. He deteriorated so rapidly that I just had to place him in a locked memory unit. He was no longer safe as he was trying to go outside in the middle of the night. I live in a remote area of Texas, and we have rattlesnakes. The snakes are out at night because it is cooler, and 2 of my dogs have been bitten this year. It was a heart-wrenching decision to have to put Daddy there, but his safety and well-being is my responsibility.
I am starting a Go Fund Me page because the cost of this care is $4800 a month. I am applying for his VA benefits, but have been told that it could take up to a year for that to kick in, and there is a deficit of $1100 a month, and we have incurred alot of initial expenses, and legal fees in getting Daddy in a good facility as quickly as possible . My family and I are grateful for any and every donation and prayer for us.
This is the only official site for Norman Ross.
