We are Jake and Anya Knotts, formerly doing mission work in Chernihiv, Ukraine, where we lived for over 10 years. Jake is from Nipomo, CA and Anya was born and grew up in Kyiv, Ukraine. We've been married 16 years and have three children. We currently reside in Arroyo Grande, California where we run our family business Midstate Containers.
Please help us raise funds to provide for the multiple needs of Ukrainian people who suffered from Russian military aggression. These funds are being raised for our refugee friends, friends of friends, families of friends, and really AND Ukrainian in a dire situation whose needs we become aware of.
We will be working in European countries bordering Ukraine to set up refugee housing, provide food and medical care, assist with transportation, childcare, documents and whatever other needs arise.
The immediate needs we see are twofold.
Firstly, providing immediate shelter and accommodations for those who have just crossed the border. Many have spent days in freezing temps trying to get through, waiting on lines for 8 to in some cases over 50 hours to make it through the line. Finding short-term rentals, Airbnbs, hotel rooms, and coordinating with local families willing to take them in. Most have arrived with nothing but a backpack and there are scores of practical needs besides accommodations. Your donations will go directly to those needs.
Secondly, we are working on helping transport people from the border to different cities, helping people in Ukraine get to the border and coordinating relocating them to other parts of Europe where they have family or friends willing to take them in. Practically speaking, this is renting cars, finding volunteer drivers, paying for gas, and transporting people from where they are to where they need to be.
We are exploring ways to get humanitarian aid into Ukraine while there is still a corridor open.
Long term the needs will be great, but right now rockets are landing on homes and the elderly, women, and children are fleeing to the western border and need immediate help.
We are simply a Ukrainian/American family and have many relatives and close friends still in Ukraine, fighting in the Army, besieged in their cities, or moving west to get out, we, at the bare minimum want to be here for them when they arrive in a foreign country with nothing. We will take all the help we can get.
All the funds will be managed and spent by us personally and will ALL go towards aforementioned needs. Thank you for participating!
