Fundraiser for Weaving Earth Year 2

Over the past year I have been looking deeply into the importance of deep nature connection, and cultural mentoring through participation in the first year track of the Weaving Earth Immersion program in Penngrove, CA (see website here for more information http://www.weavingearth.com). Through this first year, aptly named the Beyond Boundaries track , I have been pushed beyond my comfort zone and nurtured in a process of deep internal and personal work giving me glimpses into what it means to be a "real human being." This work has shown me many of my deepest wounds, and even more about my greatest passions and gifts. Through song, quiet observation, community grieving, joyous play, and study I have been shown the importance of this work of "re-membering" ourselves as members of this living sphere we call the Earth.

As I turn to a time of evaulation and renewal on the anniversary of my dedication to join the first year of WE's immersion I am struck by the insights I have gained into my own internal landscape. But I am also struck by a deep question and longing, " where does my deepest passion and longing meet the world's greatest need?" This question has lead me to follow the call for study once again, by joining the second year track of the WE immersion. This program has been dubbed the Fire Tenders track, and is pointed at the Northstar of learning the skills and means of supporting a community container, and helping to reveal the attributes of healthy connection in all of the circles we find ourselves in. The second year participants are asked to metaphorically tend the community fire during the 9-month Weaving Earth program, holding down key roles in the community to allow our programatic "eco-system" to flourish. I see this as an opportunity to take the deep insights I have gained into myself and give back to a community, while learning the skills to bring this work out into the world beyond Weaving Earth.

It is my deep conviction that we are living in a time of "great turning" as put by Eco-Buddhist activist Joanna Macy.  A time ripe for change, when all of or actions have deeper potency that we could ever imagine, when actions taken from the guidance of the heart are revolutionary . My heart is calling me to continue my work with Weaving Earth so that I may gain the skills to help the next generation and the 6 beyond that heal there connection to the natural world, and thereby themselves and communities. With these skills I hope to inspire those coming after me to love this world we have and become caring and effective stewards of the places both wild and urban.

It is with this intention that I call upon my extended community for support, and blessing. This moment is edgy for me, to ask for help  in raising the funds to be able to participate in the program. At the moment I have pulled together $5000 of the $8500 that it will cost for me to join the second year thanks to the support of my family. It is my hope that my community can see the importance of this work to me, and also to the great need our world is showing for deeper connection to the planet and all of the beings inhabiting it. My prayer is that with your help I can continue my journey in gaining the skills and means to be a part of the creation of a new story, one that sees us living in harmony with our planet as a community of connected, empathetic humanimals.
