Hi everyone, I'm reaching out to share something difficult. My cat, Lulu, has been diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). For those who don't know, FIP is a serious and often fatal disease in cats.

Lulu came into our lives as a companion for my other cat, Oscar, and they’ve become the best of buds. It all started a few days ago when Lulu lost her appetite, and I noticed she wasn't her usual spunky self. A visit to the vet this morning confirmed her diagnosis of FIP.

I was told that FIP is often known as a death sentence, but there's a treatment available that could save her and offer a chance for a full recovery. The treatment involves 84 days of medication, along with frequent vet visits to monitor her progress. However, it is expensive, and I'm facing a tough decision.

For those who don’t know me, one thing you should know is that I have a deep love for animals. And for those who do know me, you know how much I absolutely adore Oscar and Lu — they are my pride and joy. I would do anything to give them the best life possible.

This treatment is so expensive because it’s very new to the U.S. — it was only introduced last year, on June 1st, 2024. Since it’s still so recent, the medication and veterinary care are costly as it’s not yet widely available.

Lu is more than just a pet — she’s family. Her spunky, sassy, and sweet personality fills our home with joy, and seeing her like this breaks my heart.
