Terence Anderson was born in 1985 & has been dealing with Chronic Kidney Disease nearly his entire life. Terence frequented hospital visits with symptoms beginning at the age of 7, although he was not officially diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease until he was 15 years old. Terence has been taking medication ever since. Originally from Churchill, Manitoba, Terence moved to Winnipeg a few years ago to begin a new chapter in life, but unfortunately his plans were met with challenges as his condition began to worsen in 2014, when he was hospitalized three times. The doctors had said Terence’s kidneys were failing a lot quicker than expected, which resulted in him going on dialysis three times a week. Prior to this, Terence enrolled in the Civil Engineering course at Red River College, he attempted to manage both school & dialysis, but he eventually had to withdraw from the course due to his health complications.
Terence’s mother Florence, being the selfless person she is, did not hesitate to undergo tests to determine her compatibility as a kidney donor. In July 2015 it was determined that Florence is in fact compatible, & a few months later a surgeon had informed her that she will donate her right kidney to Terence. Florence is currently awaiting confirmation on a transplant surgery date that will commence this year as early as March 2016. Upon confirmation, Florence will have to uproot her life from Churchill & temporarily reside in Winnipeg for the surgery plus three months of recovery time for both her & Terrence, all of which will be unpaid time off from her job, & at her own expense.
Post-surgery, Terence & Florence will spend the recovery process together & require suitable accommodation for two people during that time. Donations are currently being accepted via GoFundMe & will be used to alleviate the costs of living expenses & accommodation in Winnipeg during those three months. Your donation of any amount will be greatly appreciated, & meaningful to this loving mother of three, as her eldest son will be that much closer to getting his life back on track.
