Tom St Amand’s Recovery ❤️
On August 22nd, late at night, Tom suffered a major stroke that led to an ambulance ride to St Croix Regional Medical Center and then a helicopter ride to United Hospital in St. Paul. Based on the severity of the stroke Tom qualified for a procedure where they went in and were able to remove two clots, one in his carotid artery and another in his brain, with suction. That’s where the miracle happened, within 24 hours he was able to move his left arm, left leg and talk! Tom spent two days in the ICU and then was able to move to a regular hospital room on Tuesday the 24th but through more testing it was discovered he has A-Fib, heart failure and a clot in his heart, unfortunately his heart is only working at 30% so he will be on blood thinners for the rest of his life and will need further medical care. Rest assured though he is the same witty, sarcastic person that he always was. Tom has overcame so much in a short week span and the outpouring of prayers has helped immensely! Tom and the family could not be more grateful! Tom has a long road ahead of him, with a full recovery possible, but the financial burden and amount of medical bills that he has accumulated, and will continue to accumulate, will be overbearing. As Tom’s daughter I know how hard it is for him to accept help and allow others to be there for him but he deserves it!
