*Chonchon needs you in her corner!

  • Chonchon had to undergo a Bone Biopsy (August 2) after confirming a fracture on her right hip. She is awaiting the results from her biopsy at Cedars Sinai Hospital.
  • She is currently admitted to Cedars Sinai and has undergone various procedures for her liver, lungs, kidney and heart. Today (27 June,2023) she will undergo another procedure for her heart. She will be getting a permanent defibrillator / pacemaker. Continue to pray for her and thank you for your support.
A couple of years ago, when Chonchon was first rushed to the ER, nobody knew what was causing the sudden onset paralysis from her waist down. It took weeks and several tests and procedures before the brilliant team of doctors at Huntington hospital diagnosed her with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). It's a rare condition in which the autoimmune system attacks the nerves. It starts with tingling in the feet and legs and spreads to the upper body, leading to paralysis. It had already started affecting her ability to grip things or even swallow food and water. She was also battling several other health complications. Thankfully, the medical team was able to prevent it from spreading further. The treatment plan consisted of steroids, special blood treatments (plasma exchange and immunoglobulin therapy) surgery and a rigorous physical therapy plan.Later, Chonchon was moved to the renowned California Rehabilitation Institute where she received further care and treatment over two months. They have a wonderful team of physical, occupational and art therapists along with doctors and nurses who helped her get back on her feet (literally). She still had to continue her medication and regular physical therapy for the next few months but there was great relief when she was finally able to go home. This was made possible because of the medical experts, the encouragement and support, the prayers and generous giving from friends and kind strangers around the world. Chonchon was on disability while her husband Yuiri continued to work in order to support the family and pay the ongoing medical bills.
Sadly, she is now back in the same hospital. This time battling a severe jaundice, pneumonia and internal infections. Her weakened immune system also means that her GBS has returned. Medical costs are rapidly increasing and this young couple don't have enough insurance to help cover the costs. We don't know the final amount yet but whatever amount you're able to give will go towards her medical bills. Chonchon desperately needs you in her corner. She is a survivor. She's a fighter. And with your help, she'll be able to win this fight. We know that we can overcome this together. Thank you
