Hello,
My name is Beth Kirschner.
My husband (Ruben) and I are trying to help our son (Joe) and daughter-in-love (Chelsie) out by doing this fundraiser.
Their son (Joey) is in need of a liver transplant.
I am using Mom’s words so I don’t get it wrong.
Joey is an incredible 12-year-old boy who loves God, golf, family, friends, and everything gaming. He is in the 7th grade at East Hamilton Middle School. He is an amazing mathematician and loves anything and everything science-related.
What started out as a routine doctor appointment at the end of February completely turned into the worst moments of our lives and what would ultimately change everything, especially for our boy.
After several tests and a liver biopsy, it was shown that Joey had Autoimmune Hepatitis (AIH). After further testing, it was clear that it was at an advanced stage, which led to cirrhosis of the liver, portal hypertension, splenomegaly, varices, ascites, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia (low platelets). He is also dealing with high toxin levels (because of the cirrhotic liver not being able to filter it out) and now stage two hypertension.
As of the end of November, we went and had labs drawn and found out that he now has adrenal suppression, so we go next to see an endocrinologist. Also found out that his next liver evaluation (last step before he is listed) will be December 15-16! Many prayers are appreciated as he is starting to stress about a lot of things. Unfortunately, he is back to being homebound for school (he loves school more than your average 12-year-old).
