The Muslim Women Resource Center (MWRC) is an organization supporting Muslim women and families from Middle East and South Asia. For the past 20 years MWRC serves many in the Afghan community in the Chicagoland area.
MWRC has been inundated with requests for support for families who are fleeing from Afghanistan.
As new refugees come in, they are starting from scratch and need initial financial support. Our office helps refugees, coming under the Humanitarian Parole, SIV and P-2, apply for public benefits that can help ease their assimilation. The Humanitarian Parole, however, only grants $2000 in total to each refugee families. This is certainly not enough for rent, utilities, food, and overall care of their large families until we help them apply for Public Benefits which takes about 45 days to send a notice of decision.
MWRC is raising this money to help provide extra funds for families to carry them through as they wait for their public benefits to kick in.
Please help MWRC support vulnerable families who are coming with very little resources and support. During this time, we need your support to ease their integration in the United States.
