UPDATE: Gorgeous Zayn is home. He has had his shunt put in and this seems to be working as it’s reduced the swelling in his head. He has a return to emergency to ensure that it was working. He gets fussy at times when he has to have the catheter after every bottle to assist in bladder control. He isn’t looking forward to his needles this week and then he has four/five apts at the children’s hospital in a weeks time for more MRI’s ultrasounds scans and to commence the beginning of fixing his club feet and legs (which is a minimum 4 years of casts and splints ) He has some wonderful conversations with his dads stuffed mama turtle and we swear that he does hear the turtle talking to him. More updates as we know more. Please keep sharing if you can.

Hi please help my gorgeous son Blake Williams his gorgeous fiancée Skye Steele and their gorgeous bub my grandson Zayn Williams who was born on the 1/6/24
We are asking on behalf of a gorgeous new family for some help. Imagine the joy of being told you are going to become a parent. Then you spend the time thinking and wondering what bub will be. You go for a scan at 24 weeks and bam what you were expecting changes. The Dr you were seeing stuffed up blood tests and ultrasounds and now you are told that your bub will be born with myelomeningocele which in English means the worse stage of spina bifida.
Now as a young couple in their early twenties you are faced with daily trips averaging 260 kms a day, parking fees and multiple medical fees, plus hospital appointments multiple times a week, Plus having to pay for accomodation at the hospital while providing your own food etc.
Bub is taken from your birthing suite and four hours later he is on the way to NICU at PCH for his first operation to repair the spine and close the hole in his back, prepped for a shunt to be inserted between his skull and spine to allow drainage of brain fluid. Bub isn't allowed to lay on his back or held for more than a few minutes as his spine needs to heal and the surgery site has to be completely repaired before being allowed on to his back. Zayn will need more surgery on his legs as he has caliped legs and feet (club feet) and then tests to see if there is any movement from the waist down. He needs to have a catheter for life to assist with toileting and amongst all this his mum and dad and Zayn are calm and madly in love with their bub. He will be in NICU for a minimum of six weeks to allow for surgeries and healing. You are ten kilometres on the wrong side of the border to be able to utilise Ronald McDonald House for accomodation or to get assistance for fuel so you now have massive expenses. Please note that Blake Skye and Zayn are a gorgeous little family who have a lifetime of memories to make and being a young engaged couple they are very restricted with their finances.
We would love as much help to help Blake, Skye and little Zayn with all the costs they will be facing and to try and help them raise funds to get a newer car with safety features to transport Zayn for all his lifelong therapies and appointments. (Even though their 20 year old Corolla is going well it is very temperamental on starting and doesn’t have safety features).
Who knows maybe there is someone on our friends list who may have contacts who can help with this( or donate with sponsorship on the car) it doesn’t hurt to ask.
Could everyone please share with as many of their friends as possible as even $1 they would appreciate.
