Zayden's Fight: Recovery and more surgeries
Donation protected
I am raising money for my daughter and son-in-law to help with medical bills, house bills, and other needs that will arise during the time of recovery for their newborn child.
Theirs is a true love story beginning in junior high. They have been together since they were 13 and are just nearing twenty-five. They have been married for three years. They are a young couple who have experienced many life adversaries but have remained strong and committed to one another through each life stressor.
They have been trying to have children for the last six years. She became pregnant twice within one and a half years, only to experience heartache and sadness due to miscarrying both times. The couple and their families struggled with the loss of not just one, but two grandchildren. It was a very dark and long journey for all.
So, when they became pregnant for a third time, it was a tense and scary time for them, their family, and their friends. Once she made it beyond the ten-week mark, we all were ecstatic and excited and began planning baby Zayden's arrival.
One month ago, she was told baby Zayden only had a half heart. Yesterday, after the conclusion of seven hours of appointments at U of M's Mott's Child Hospital, they were told he has a single ventricle congenital heart defect. This means the little guy will have to have three surgeries, the first one just a few days after his birth. This surgery will require him to remain under medical care at the children's hospital for 3-4 weeks.
The second surgery will be six months old, and the third will be three years old. During his life, he may need a heart transplant depending on how his heart does after the surgeries.
So, why a GoFundMe?
Due to the high risk pregnancy there have been many appointments sometimes two to three a week, requiring missed time from work.
My daughter and son-in-law have many upcoming appointments that will require them to miss work. They currently are a two-income family, but the health complexities of this child at the beginning of his life will reduce that to a one-income family.
With the hospital being over two hours away mom will be there with the baby and depending on dad's job and paternity leave, he may be able. No father should be away from his child during such a time.
We are hoping to raise enough money to help them with money for transportation, lodging, medical and household bills, baby supplies, or whatever else may come up during this time.
If you can please help us, it would be greatly appreciated. It will not go unnoticed even if it's just a few dollars and sharing our story.
God bless you and thank you in advance.
